The Story of Max & Yoelle — Surprise Proposal at St. Theodoroi Lighthouse, Kefalonia

The story of The Story of Max & Yoelle — Surprise Proposal at St. Theodoroi Lighthouse, Kefalonia

Max planned his surprise proposal to Yoelle at St. Theodoroi Lighthouse in Kefalonia, one of the islands best-known coastal landmarks.

The location worked perfectly for the kind of moment he had in mind: open sea views, soft evening light and enough space for everything to feel relaxed and private despite its popularity.

To keep the proposal natural, I stayed at a distance and let the moment happen uninterrupted. When Max revealed the ring, Yoelles reaction arrived instantly: surprise, disbelief, laughter and emotion all at once.

Photographing surprise proposals in Kefalonia is often less about staging and more about timing, light and helping people feel comfortable enough to forget they are being photographed.

Afterwards, we stayed around the lighthouse for a short engagement session while the sun dropped lower over the sea. Nothing overly directed, just a few quiet moments together in the place where the day changed for them.

If you are planning a surprise proposal or engagement session in Kefalonia, this story gives you a realistic sense of how the experience can feel: relaxed, personal and allowed to unfold naturally.
